A hard-spinning leg-spinner from Berbice, Guyana, Devendra Bishoo has played 32 Test matches for his national side. Those games have seen him collect 106 wickets at an effective average of 36.23, In the CPL he plays for Guyana Amazon Warriors, his home side, his T20 career seeing him maintain a very impressive economy of 6.29rpo.

Whilst Bishoo has had a good Test career to date, he will undoubtedly be defined by one performance. In October of 2016, against Pakistan in Dubai, Bishoo wrote his name into West Indian folklore. As the second innings rolled around, the Test was already memorable for being among the first day-night Tests hosted anywhere in the world, as well as Azhar Ali recording a magnificent triple-century for the hosts, but Bishoo’s achievement was all the more remarkable for almost turning around a Test where the first innings deficit for the tourists was over 200 runs. Single-handedly, he dismissed Pakistan for just 123, taking 8-49 and giving his side an achievable target of just under 350, which they were unable to meet, but the mere fact that the Windies even had a sniff was down to Devendra Bishoo’s wonderful bowling effort. It was the best innings performance by a West Indian bowler since Curtly Ambrose in 1990, and will go down as one of the best by a Windies spinner in history.
