Merissa Aguilleira
One of the most senior players on the WINDIES Women’s team, Aguilleira was also the previous captain before Stafanie Taylor was appointed in 2015. As a wicketkeeper/batter, she is a vital component of the team behind the wickets as well as in the middle order.
Her quick hands behind the stumps has earned her the respect of being one best wicketkeepers over the years. Notwithstanding her skills behind the stumps, her batting has been known to come in clutch at times when the team needed her. She can score quickly to chase down a target or to get a defendable total for her team. Apart from the WINDIES Women, Aguilleira has been captain of the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Team for several years, leading them to a record number of regional titles in both 50 and 20 overs.
Other than cricket, Merissa is a very spiritual person and takes her Christianity very seriously. She never misses service on Sundays no matter what country she’s in. After cricket, she intends to pursue work through her charity, the Merissa Aguilleira Foundation.
