Afy Fletcher
The leg-spinner from Grenada is a rarity in women’s cricket in the Caribbean. Afy is a prized possession by her team as she is one of a handful of leggies in the Caribbean. She bagged her first 5-wicket T20 haul against Sri Lanka in a Home Series last year and was one of the bowlers who spun the team to the final of the World T20 in 2016.
She started off playing in the area she grew up and was referred to the national coaches who then molded her into the mysterious spinner she is now. Consistency is Afy’s best asset, thought wickets may not always be in the column, her economy is one of the best in the world.
Very quiet and diminutive, Afy is one of the more docile ones on the team. While she will have a good laugh and enjoy herself, she is usually very shy especially when in an unfamiliar situation. She recently completed her Level I Coaching certificate, well on her way to be prepared for life after playing cricket.
