CWI to Honour Kemar Roach's Historic 300-Test Wicket Milestone at Kensington Oval
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Cricket West Indies (CWI) will formally honour Barbadian fast bowler Kemar Roach for his outstanding achievement of claiming 300 Test wickets during the innings break of the fifth One-Day International between the West Indies and New Zealand at Kensington Oval on Tuesday, July 21.
Roach became only the fifth West Indian and second Barbadian to reach the coveted 300-wicket landmark, achieving the milestone during the Men in Maroon’s win over Sri Lanka in the first match of the two-test series held in Antigua. He joins an elite list comprising Courtney Walsh (519), Sir Curtly Ambrose (405), Malcolm Marshall (376), and Lance Gibbs (305).
The on-field presentation will see Cricket West Indies joined by representatives of the Government of Barbados and Barbados Cricket Association.
With free admission being announced in honour of the late Sir Garfield Sobers, Barbadians and cricket supporters are encouraged to fill the stands to show their appreciation for Roach’s historic accomplishment.
CWI President Dr. The Hon. Kishore Shallow spoke on Roach’s illustrious career and opportunity for the West Indies cricket family and the people of Barbados to recognise one of the region's modern greats.

Since making his Test debut against Bangladesh in 2009, Roach has established himself as one of the finest fast bowlers of his generation. His 300 Test wickets have come at an average of approximately 28.83 and an economy rate of 3.10, including 12 five-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket match haul. Renowned for his exceptional control, late movement and relentless accuracy, he has enjoyed success in all major Test-playing nations and has consistently led the West Indies attack throughout his career.
In recent years, he has played a pivotal leadership role within the West Indies bowling unit and remains an inspiration to aspiring cricketers throughout the region.
