Shamarh Brooks: An elegant right-handed batter who played a major role in the Jamaica Tallawahs capture of the 2022 Caribbean League title. He played a number of breathtaking strokes during a match-winning century against the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Guyana National Stadium in the play-off.
Two days later he then made an equally important 47 in the grand final against Barbados Royals. He has so far played 11 T20Is and has one half century – a solid knock of 56 which came against New Zealand at Sabina Park in Jamaica in August, 2022. He was named as a member of the West Indies 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
After a promising start to his career – when he led the West Indies at the 2008 ICC Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia – Brooks made a late entry onto the senior international stage when he made his Test debut against India in Antigua in August 2019. A few months later he made his maiden Test ton – a match-winning 111 against Afghanistan in Lucknow, India. It was a sparkling innings of top-quality stroke-play against spin bowling, which he paid tribute to his hero Sir Everton Weekes.
