SUPER50: JORDAN AIMING TO LEAD FROM THE FRONT WITH CCC

SUPER50: JORDAN AIMING TO LEAD FROM THE FRONT WITH CCC

During the CCC‘S historic maiden Super50 triumph last season, Akeem Jordan tournament haul of 16 wickets at an average of 16.42 was key to that success.

Last season you were the Caribbean fast bowler with the most wickets. How much confidence did that give you as a young fast bowler ?

To be honest it did give me a lot of confidence as a fast bowler. Myself playing at that level for the first time, just having the self believe not knowing what to expect, so I would say it did help me a lot with my confidence

Have you set a personal goal to match or better your 16 wicket tournament haul ?

I have set myself a personal goal to better my tournament haul from last year. It would be really good to do better than last year and have a good tournament.

So if I can have a good tournament, I think the team will benefit.

One of CCC's most famous victories in last years tournament was the semi-final victory versus a star studded Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, when you claimed figure of  5/18. What do you remember most fondly about that game from a team and personal perspective ?

Last year semi-final against Trinidad & Tobago Red Force was truly a game to remember. I remember the night before the game, there was so much self belief in the camp, we felt we could have won that game once we played well.

Having a captain like Carlos Braithwaite also helped to boost the teams confidence and the type of cricket we played.

From a personal perspective I was just happy I was able to do something special for the team. The night before I asked the guys if they would take five wickets for 20 runs from me tomorrow, they said “yea we would love it” & so it happened and it was just a really good feeling in the camp at the time.

After Super50 2018 you have represented West Indies A versus India and played in CPL. What has playing against the tough opponents in those two series thought you about your fast bowling ?

It taught me a lot. It taught me that my mental game as a fast bowler has to be strong and ready for anything they (batsmen) throw at you. I still have some learning to do to get my fast bowling to the level it ought to be.

CCC has obviously lost a players to different territories this year. Considering that fact as a returning senior member, how important do you see your role in the this year to help CCC have a good tournament ?

Yes we have lost a lot of players this year, but the sooner we gell and become a family, it can help us a lot.

I see my role this year as a pretty important one, because I would like to ease the pressure off of the new comers like what some of the senior men did for me last year. So I would really like to hold my hand high in a number of departments this year and hopefully it goes off into us (CCC) having a good tournament.
