Impressive Leewards beat Guyana in two days in Rising Stars U19s
The Leeward Islands became the first team to secure victory in the second round with a commanding 10-wicket victory over Guyana, highlighting the second day of action in the Rising Stars U19 Championship presented by WINLOTT Inc.
Playing at Park Hill: wickets tumbled in clusters before the Leewards secured their win against the Guyanese. The Leewards resumed Day two on 114-4 but were bowled within 10 overs of play for 151, although they secured a first innings lead of 78 runs. Fast bowler Isai Thorne, who represented West Indies and the Under 19 World Cup led the rout of Leewards batting with impressive bowling figures of 12-0-36-6. Top order batsman Jewel Andrew 56 (94 balls, 4x4, 3x6) was the only Leewards batsman to resist while Thorne was in his wicket-taking spell.
That moment of joy was short-lived for Guyana, as their batsmen collapsed in the second innings for 90 all out. Mark McKenzie was once again the Leeward's main wicket-taker clinching a five-wicket haul to end with a superb match analysis of 13.2-3-27-9.

At Arnos Vale: Trinidad & Tobago fought back against the table toppers Barbados after they were dominated during action on the opening day. The improved performance started with Trinidad and Tobago’s bowlers routing Barbados for just 154 all out (71.3 overs) after they resumed day two on 93/2. This limited the Bajan's first-inning lead to just 47 runs. Vasant Singh starred with the ball fir T&T with bowling figures of (26-7-60-5). He received solid support from other bowlers Nick Ramlall (13.3-30-2) and Joshua Davis (13-5-29-2).

So far in the second innings, Trinidad and Tobago batsmen showed improvement to be 153-5, registering a lead of 107 to leave the game interestingly poised heading into the final day.
At Cumberland: Jamaica’s batsmen and bowlers produced a strong showing that placed them on verge of victory heading into the final day against Windward Islands. The home team resumed Day two on 69-2 in pursuit of Jamaica’s first innings total of 265, with West Indies U19 captain Ackeem Auguste unbeaten on 43 at that stage.
However, when Auguste was eventually dismissed for 66 (75 balls, 9x4, 1x6) with the 112-3 in the 28th over, the Windwards innings capitulated and they were bowled out for 172 giving the Jamaicans a first innings lead of 93 runs. Sanjay Walker (8-2-29-3) had the best analysis with the ball, in what was a solid all-around team bowling effort from the Jamaicans.
Batting in the second innings half centuries from Jordan Johnson 82 (88 balls, 6x4, 4x6), first innings centurion Steven Wedderburn 52 (88 balls, 1x4) and quick-fire cameo by Sanjay Walker 34 (24 balls, 1x4, 4x6) propelled them to a declaration score 229-5. This set the Windwards a still target of 313 for victory and they quickly slipped to 29-2 at the close of play losing the wicket of their first innings top scorer Auguste for 16.
