Barbados Pride defeats Trinidad and Tobago Red Force

Defending champions Barbados Pride convincingly defeated Trinidad & Tobago Red Force by an innings and 22 runs, to stay top of the table heading into next week’s final round of matches in the West Indies championship.

Resuming on day three, Trinidad & Tobago Red Force were already precariously placed on 51/3 in their second innings trailing Barbados by 110 runs. The slide continued when Roston Chase with his off-spin that produced figures of (12-3-26-3), comprehensively bowled opening batsman Keagan Simmons (26) and Red Force middle order batsman Jason Mohammed (6) in the first six overs, as the Red Force slipped to 64/5. From this point the home side never recovered, with only Yannic Cariah (35) not out, putting up resistance in their final innings total of 139 all out.

Reflecting on the victory, Barbados Pride and West Indies test captain Kraig Brathwaite said:

“(The win) Feels very good, obviously, on this section of the tour getting our first win coming to Trinidad, so I'm very happy for the group.  He continued: “We put in some hard work and it's good to see, you know, the team coming together after a tough loss against Guyana and rebounding again.”

Round five next week from June 1-4, Barbados will lock horns with Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Diego Martin Sports Complex while Trinidad & Tobago Red Force will face Guyana Harpy Eagles at the Queen’s Park Oval.
