1 Year Later: A look back at the Wisden Trophy Win in 2019 ๐Ÿ†

It was a year ago โ€“ TODAY (Feb 12th)โ€“ that WI were presented with the Wisden Trophy at home in the West Indies.

Here are ๐Ÿ”Ÿ of our favourite moments from this historic series!

1) THE SKIPPER SCORED A DOUBLE CENTURY! 202* (229) ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

And if that wasn't enough, he also became the tallest double Test centurion in history! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Of the team's performance, Captain Holder had this to say:

โ€œWe were hungry for success โ€ฆ very hungry and the fans urged us on at every phase and at every stage. This group has been together for a year and a half to two years and we have been doing some exceptional things. Credit to the boys for sticking to the task โ€ฆ this was something we all really wanted,โ€ was Holderโ€™s assessment.

2) SHANE DOWRICH GOT IN ON THE ACTION WITH A SWEET 116* ๐Ÿ’ช

He joined his long time friend at the crease to produce the 3rd highest 7th-wicket partnership in Test Cricket history.

3) THEIR MOMS WERE THE REAL MVP's! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Shane Dowrich's and Jason Holder's Moms were all smiles as their sons - almost in a planned, choreographed display - created history at Kensington Oval at their hometown of Barbados.

4) KEMAR ROACH WAS QUIET BUT DEADLY! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

He took his 9th Fifer and a total of 18 wickets to secure him the Man-of-the-Series. And in his signature style, he made it appear as easy as reciting the ABC's...

Check out every SINGLE Kemar Roach wicket! All 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...well you get the drift...ALL 18 of them ๐Ÿคท

5) JOHN CAMPBELL MADE HIS TEST DEBUT! ๐Ÿงข

And received his cap from none other than Sir Gary Sobers. A moment he will cherish forever!

6) ROSTON CHASE WAS NOT GOING TO MISS THIS PARTY! ๐Ÿค™

Not Roston and not THIS one! He scored his career best bowling figures of 8-60 and a swanky-looking century in the Third Test.

7) DARREN DRAINED THE ENGLISH BOWLERS! ๐Ÿ˜€

And WI loved it! In the 2nd Test, Darren Bravo scored 50 runs off 215 balls in 342 minutes. Talk about occupying the crease!

8) THE FANS WENT INTO FRENZY! ๐Ÿ’ƒ

What's a West Indies party without the #MaroonFans?

10) THIS SUMMER... ๐ŸŒด v ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ

As nostalgic as it is to look back at one of the most memorable clashes in modern Test history, the Skipper is looking ahead to ensure the silverware returns with him and the Men In Maroon as they seek to defend their title against England this summer.

Wisden Trophy - Jason Holder 2019.jpg
โ€œThe England tour will be big for us. We will be defending the Wisden Trophy and that means a lot to our fans and our players. A summer in England, with a Test match at Lords, is something special on the cricket calendar. We have England, then South Africa coming to the Caribbean โ€ฆ I don't think itโ€™s beyond us to beat them. We have got to make sure we keep building and developing. Once we do that, we can compete with any side in the world. A realistic target in two years would be to be ranked three or four in the world.โ€
