Kirstan Kallicharan has excited Trinidad and Tobago cricket fans again, and they have good reason to be. This young man has been scoring runs in bulk since his primary school days, and he's been making the headlines of local newspapers ever since too. It's no surprise, then, that he has graduated very quickly into the West Indies Under-19 team. He was the youngest member of the Under-19 World Cup winning squad of 2016. He was so young, he didn't get to play a game, but he said the experience off the field was equally as valuable.

He told the International cricket Council, "I was the youngest one in that Under 19 squad, so chatting to the older guys I learned a lot. I also learned a lot from meeting new people from around the world and seeing how they play, not only on TV but live and getting to talk to them and learn from them. One main thing I learned was to stay humble. Now I try to share my experience, it helped me a lot then so I think I can help them a lot by talking to them, trying to bring them out of down days, trying to help them, uplift them spiritually and mentally can help them reach a long way."

His maturity supersedes his age. He will turn 19 at the end of 2018, and he has played eight One Day matches for the T&T Red Force thus far. The West Indies Under-19 team, however, is where most of his experience lies, and he lies in waiting for a future senior team call-up. Everything is on his side - age, time, and West Indies cricket.
