West Indies “A” will be pushing for victory over Bangladesh “A” when the third and final four-day first class match ends on Friday. The visitors need 10 wickets while the home team need 414 runs from the 90 overs available.

Consistent batting down the order led by Tagenarine Chanderpaul with an unbeaten 83 enabled the visitors to declare on 220-5 in their second innings about an hour before the close, setting the Bangladeshis 461 to win. West Indies did not get a wicket in the 13.5 overs before bad light stopped play early and the hosts will resume on Friday at 47 without loss in their second innings.

Chanderpaul, who celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, anchored the innings with a resolute knock which included seven fours and one six from 165 balls in a little more than four hours. It was his third score of 83 in the series – the others coming in the only innings of the first “Test” and the first innings of this ongoing match.

He shared partnerships along the way – 69 for the fourth wicket at more than five runs an over with his captain Joshua Da Silva. The skipper made 47 off just 40 balls – to follow up his knocks of 47 not out in both innings of the second math last week.

Earlier, in the day experienced left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul ended with 3-38 from 13 overs, and led the West Indies “A” quickly dismissing the lower order of Bangladesh “A” in the first hour with the hosts bowled out for 205 to concede a first innings lead of 240.
