Kyshona Knight then struck three quick boundaries on her way to 27 not out off 35 balls, not out with her at the end of the Barbados innings was teenager Alisa Scantlebury on 10 not out as Barbados amassed 227-2 from their 50 overs.

The Windwards batting innings never got going as they plummeted to 9-6 in the eighth over7.5 overs. Shamilia Connell and Bruce tore into their top and middle order. Then came a 32-run partnership between Japhina Joseph and Glasgow before Glasgow fell for 11, Joseph departed not long after for a top-score of 18. Etienne delivered with the bat as the last batter, hitting a quick 16 before she was caught off Aaliyah Williams. Windward Islands were all out for 78 in 23.1 overs. Bruce finished with figures of 9-2-48-4 and Connell 5-2-9-3.

Matthews spoke to CWI Media after the match. “As a team we are really happy with the performance. Batting first we were happy to put over 200 on the board and then to be able to restrict them for under 80, I’m pretty pleased with that and it should have our net run rate looking pretty healthy after this game. Being patient, all innings long adding up (to) that hundred … I’m pretty disappointed not to get there at the end but just happy I could’ve contributed 99 runs to the team score and help us get a big total on the board,” she said.

All matches in the CG United Women’s Super50 Cup will be played at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence and will be live streamed on the Windies Cricket YouTube channel. Live ball by ball scoring will also be available on the www.windiescricket.com Match Centre.
