Kavem Hodge followed up his first innings half century with a determined all round performance which has kept Team Headley in the game on the second day at Coolidge Cricket Ground on Thursday.

The allrounder took three wickets with his left arm spin as Team Weekes were bowled out for 235 – a first innings lead of 58. He them made 26 as team Headley closed the day on 67-2 in their second innings at the close, and they have so far gotten a lead of nine. Opener Matthew Nandu will resume on Friday on 28, and with him Sunil Ambris, not out on one.

Hodge’s efforts were matched by a resolute half-century from wicket-keeper Devon Thomas which held the Team Weekes innings together. He topscored with 57 and shared a half-century, eighth wicket stand with Veersammy Permaul.

Thomas hit seven fours and a six from 150 balls in three hours at the crease and propped up the Team Weekes batting after they continued from their overnight total of 61-3. Permaul played aggressively and ended with 35 off59 balls before he became the third wicket for Hodge who ended with 3-46 off 18 overs.

The match will resume on Friday at 10am (9am Jamaica).
