Aussies watch out! Shamilia Connell- WIW V AUSW ODI series preview
Shamilia Connell has sounded a warning to the Aussies, telling them to bring their A-game, ahead of the start of the three-match ODI series in Antigua. The last time both teams met, Australia got the better of the West Indies Women in the semifinal of the ICC WORLD T20 right in Antigua. This time, the West Indies Women are hoping for better pitch conditions which they can exploit as the home team with pace.
Shamilia now has the mandate as the lead bower for the team as her opening partner Shakera Selman is missing the series due to injury. Shamilia said now doubt it’s added responsibility but one that she welcomes. With the addition of Shabika Gajnabi, Shamilia will also be in the mentor role to ensure that Shabika keeps pace with the consistency that is required at the international level.
The West Indies Women will bowl off their home series against Australia in a day-night ODI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. The remaining two matches will be played at the Sir Vivian Richard Stadium, before the tour moves to the Kensington Oval in Barbados for the three T20 Internationals.
Tickets are priced at just US$4/EC$10.00 EC in Antigua or US$5/BD$10 for Barbados to make it affordable for fans to come out and rally behind the West Indies Women. Tickets are available to buy online from Saturday 24 August via the Buy Tickets button on www.windiescricket.com. Local box offices at the stadia will be open from September 3 in Antigua and in Barbados from September 12.
