Ramdin has faith T&T can qualify

Chennai, India, CMC – On the ropes in the ongoing Champions League Twenty20 tournament, Trinidad and Tobago are gearing up for a final push to stay in the hunt beginning with their match against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, whose fumbling in a run out situation cost his team the game against Mumbai Indians last week, believes that the semi-final door is not shut despite two close defeats in a row.

“Not really. We had two close games and the guys are still confident. We still have two games and if we have a good one against Chennai, we can get our campaign back on track,” Ramdin said at a media conference on Friday.

After sweeping their qualifying matches, T&T lost to Mumbai by a wicket off the last ball of the innings and then went down to New South Wales under the one-over eliminator.

Interestingly, T&T will face off against one of their own key players, Dwayne Bravo, in Sunday’s clash against the Super Kings, but Ramdin said they were already plotting for the star all-rounder.

“We have our plans for Bravo, but he is a good player; plays shots all around the ground,” Ramdin said. “He played well in a pressure situation for Chennai the other night.”

Then, Bravo hammered a 25-ball 46 not out to set up a four-wicket win over Cape Cobras.
