Antigua & Barbuda maul St Kitts in one-dayer

ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC) – Antigua and Barbuda completed the double over St Kitts when they recorded a comprehensive 199-run win in the NAGICO Leeward Islands Cricket Association (LICA) limited overs match on Sunday.

Half-centuries by captain Wilden Cornwall and Mali Richards helped to pace the home side to 272 for eight off their 50 overs at the Police Recreation Ground.

Leg-spinner Anthony Martin and pacer Tarik Prince then shared seven wickets as defending champions St Kitts were bundled out for 73 in 18.3 overs.

Cornwall, who hit a double-century in the Antiguans' innings and 267-run victory on Friday in the three-day fixture, cracked 71 from 68 balls with six fours and six while the left-handed Richards scored a 78-ball 60 with six boundaries.

They were supported by West Indies Under-19 player Devon Thomas with 42 and Austin Richards (32) while Terrance Ward took two for 52.

Martin then captured four for seven and Prince three for 31 while medium-pacer Chad Hampson, a selectee in the 32-man Stanford Super Stars squad, took two for 26, as the St Kitts batsmen folded easily to the pace and spin attack.

The St Kitts captain Steve Liburd made 16 in his team's dismal display.
