Shillingford to lead Dominica in Windwards tournament

ROSEAU, Dominica, (CMC) – Experienced Windward Islands off spinner, Shane Shillingford, has once again been charged with the responsibility of leading Dominica’s campaign at this year’s Windward Islands senior tournament, scheduled to bowl off here Sunday.

Shillingford, who has just returned to the island after his first stint of club cricket in England, will lead the team in the absence of Liam Sebastien, who is unavailable because of his studies at the UWI Cave Hill Campus in Barbados.

On Friday, selectors announced the 13-man squad but delayed in naming the skipper for the annual tournament.

West Indies Under-15 player, Kavem Hodge is one of two newcomers named in the squad along with middle order batsman Junior Jervier.

Dominica will take on St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Windsor Park Stadium in one of two first round matches. The other match will feature Grenada and St. Lucia at the Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.

SQUAD: Shane Shillingford (captain), Kevin James, Kirsten Casimir, Mervin Matthew, Kavem Hodge, Junior Jervier, Martin Matthew, Ray Casimir, Jean Paul, Ezekiel Francis, Gary Daniel, Samuel Mitchel, Vivian Titre.
