WICB seeks to deepen relations with Territorial Boards
KINGSTON -- Mr. Dave Cameron, Vice President in Charge of Development with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) leaves Jamaica today (Monday) on a two-day visit to Grenada, during which he will have discussions with that country’s Sports Minister, Mr. Patrick Simmons. Mr. Cameron is being accompanied by Mr. Emanuel Nanthan, President of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control.
Mr. Cameron said the discussions, which are in keeping with the WICB’s 2008-2012 Strategic Plan, are the first in a series of meetings he’ll be having across the region with local cricket associations and sports authorities and administrators, with a view to deepening the relationship between the WICB and territorial associations.
Commented Mr. Cameron: “We are hoping that out of these discussions will come strategies for improving the administration of cricket in these islands and, by extension, the quality of our cricket.”
“The WICB sees the Territorial Boards and local associations as integral to the operation and functioning of West Indies cricket. It’s at the territorial level that players are discovered, nurtured, trained and groomed to become winners,” said Mr. Cameron.
