West Indies opener Stafanie Taylor has achieved a career-best ranking
DUBAI, UAE -- West Indies opener Stafanie Taylor has achieved a career-best ranking in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Women’s Player Rankings after a good series against South Africa which ended in Cape Town on Friday.
South Africa won the four-match series 2-1 after the last game of the series ended in a thrilling tie as Alicia Smith conceded just one-run in the 50th over after the West Indies needed two for victory.
However, the series saw Taylor leap 11 places to a career-best 11th position in the latest rankings. She is now the only West Indies batter in the top 20 with the next highest-ranked West Indies batter being Deandra Dottin who has climbed four places to 28th position.
Taylor scored 221 runs in the series, including an unbeaten 108 that included 11 fours and two sixes.
The other batter to make an upward movement was former South Africa captain Cri-Zelda Brits who has returned to the top 10 after jumping four places to 10th spot. She scored 150 runs in the four ODIs in which she played.
The batters’ list is headed by ICC’s Women’s Cricketer of the Year Claire Taylor of England while her team-mate Sarah Taylor is second and former India captain Mithali Raj third.
The bowling table is still headed by Holly Colvin of England with India captain Jhulan Goswami in second position.
The only change in the top 20 is Alicia Smith who has dropped four places to 16th spot while her team-mate Ashlyn Kilowan has slipped to 21st spot after falling seven places.
Lisa Sthalekar of Australia continues to lead the all-rounders’ table with another Australian, Shelly Nitschke, second.
