Stafanie Taylor breaks into the top 10 batters

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Teenaged West Indies opener Stafanie Taylor has achieved a career-best ranking in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Women’s Player Rankings after a good series against England which ended in Basseterre on Saturday.

West Indies clinched the three-match series 2-1 with a thrilling one-wicket victory over the current world champion and ICC World Twenty20 title holder. Taylor was to the fore for her team, top scoring in that crucial third ODI with 43.

As a result of another successful series, Taylor climbs another two places to a career-best ninth position in the latest rankings for ODI batters and she has also broken into the top five ODI all-rounders.

The 18-year-old Jamaican is now the only West Indies batter in the top 20 of the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Women’s Player Rankings with the next highest-ranked West Indies batter being Pamela Lavine who has climbed 11 places to 23rd position.

The other batter to make an upward movement was England’s Lydia Greenway who has climbed five places to 16th spot. She played in two of the three matches during the series scoring 41 and 61 in the second and third ODIs.

The batters’ list is now headed by former India captain Mithali Raj as ICC’s Women’s Cricketer of the Year Claire Taylor of England and her team-mate Sarah Taylor slip to second and third, respectively, neither of whom played any part in the series.

The bowling table is still headed by Holly Colvin of England with India captain Jhulan Goswami in second position.

The England women have seen a lot of movement in the table after some poor performances during the series. Katherine Brunt has dropped one place to fifth, Laura Marsh has dropped three spots to eighth, Isa Guha has also dropped three to go 10th while Jenny Gunn has dropped four positions to sit in 19th place.

The only England bowler to rise up the rankings post-series is Nicky Shaw and that is only by one place to seventh.

Just outside of the top 20 is again Stafanie Taylor who has shot up 10 places to sit at a career-best ranking to date of 23.

Lisa Sthalekar of Australia continues to lead the all-rounders’ table with another Australian, Shelly Nitschke, second and after a strong performance with both bat and ball, Stafanie Taylor is now sat in fifth place in the table.
