Bravo a big hit in Big Bash
VICTORIA, Australia -- West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been in brilliant form for Victoria on the Australian KFC Big Bash T20 Tournament. The livewire right-hander scored 36 from 18 balls in Victoria’s opening game as they beat Queensland Bulls by 46 runs. In the second match against New South Wales he grabbed 3-32 as the opponents reached a competitive 178-6 off their 20 overs at the MCG. Bravo then stepped up again to hit 18 from eight balls to spark a late innings acceleration and fire Victoria to 179-4 and their second win in the tournament.
“I’m happy that I’m contributing. It’s nice to get the support and love shown by the fans,” he said. “That means a lot to me and it’s important that I give them what they want to see and that is to compete, play well and contribute in batting, bowling and in the field as well.”
Meanwhile, big-hitting allrounder Kieron Pollard did not get a major score in his second outing but his team South Australia still recorded a four-wicket win over Queensland.
Pollard took one wicket as Queensland scored 156-4 off their 20 overs and South Australia replied with 160-6 off 19 overs at the Adelaide Oval. Pollard scored nine off seven balls with one boundary, a lofted shot off pacer Hopes down to the long-off fence.
The tournament continues on Tuesday (Monday night Caribbean Time) with New South Wales – with Dwayne Smith in their ranks facing Western Australia – with Chris Gayle at the top of the order in Perth.
