Jeffers smashes superb ton for St Kitts in Leewards T20
Shane Jeffers hit a brilliant century for St Kitts against Anguilla to set-up a massive victory by 108 runs in the Leeward Islands Master Blaster T20 Tournament.
Jeffers, the strong lef-hander, powered his way to 100 off 64 balls with 10 boundaries and four big sixes as St Kitts rattled up 169-2 off their 20 overs at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium. It was the first century in the competition and he received good support from Codville Rogers who made 36 not out. Later in the match Novall McCall grabbed 4-12 and Elvin Berridge 2-18 to ensure Anguilla never mounted a serious challenge, as they were restricted to 61-9 in their 20 overs.
The final round of matches will be played on Sunday with leaders Antigua and Barbuda taking on Montserrat at 3 pm, while St Kitts will face arch rivals Nevis at 6:30 pm to decide to overall winners of the tournament. Antigua have 12 points followed by St Kitts and Neivs both on eight points, Anguilla ended with four points, while Montserrat have not yet registered a point.
The Leeward Islands players are using the Tournament as warm-up for the West Indies Cricket Board's Caribbean T20 Tournament to be played in Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago from July 22 to 31. The Leewards will compete in Zone A alongside Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Canada.
They take on Jamaica on July 22 at 8 pm at Kensington Oval in Barbados and return to the same venue two days later to meet Trinidad and Tobago at 8 pm. Their final preliminary match will be against Canada at Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad on July 28 at 4 pm.
