Holder runs hot as Bajans thump 104 in final 10 overs
Alcindo Holder led a late-innings charge as Barbados rattled up 104 runs in the last 10 overs against the Windward Islands. This piloted the homeside to 159-6 off their 20 overs in Match 8 of the West Indies Board's Caribbean CT20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Sunday night. The powerfully-built right-hander, who is in the squad specifically for his ability to hit out the ground, thumped 46 not out from just 23 balls to give the Bajans a challenging score.
The Windwards did not have a good time in the field. Gairy Mathurin committed a major error when he dropped Holder on the long-off boundary when the batsman had made just seven. Dwayne Smith batted well alongside Holder and made 24 from 15 balls in a fifth-wicket stand of 64 off just five overs. Earlier in the innings Dale Richards hit 29 from 23 balls while left-hander Jonathan Carter smashed two big sixes in 26 off 25. For the Windwards seamer Craig Emmanuel was the best bowler with 3-14 off three overs.
