Barbados record massive win by 224 runs over Dominica
Kingstown, St Vincent: Barbados recorded a massive victory by 224 runs over Dominica in the second round of matches in the West Indies Cricket Board's Women's 50-Over League on Friday. The Bajans, who were badly beaten by Jamaica on the opening day, hit back in a major way to make 283-7 off their 50 overs. They then bowled out the Dominicans for a mere 59 runs at Arnos Vale Playing Field 2. The best bowler was seamer Danielle Small with 4-12 and captain Shakera Selman, who took 2-6. Pearl Etienne was Dominica’s best player with 3-62 and she also made 26 batting at the top of the order.
At Stubbs, Guyana also had things their way with a dominant performance over Grenada. The Guyanese made 176-1 off their 50 overs and then bowled out the Grenadians for 91. Shemaine Campbell was Guyana’s best player with 64 not out in an unrbroken second-wicket stand of 161 with June Ogle-Thomas (81 not out). Campbell then returned with her leg-spin to take 3-14 from nine overs, while Joanna van Sertima (3-10) and Tremayne Smartt (3-25) also did very well.
At Arnos Vale Playing Field 1, Trinidad Tobago were on the verge of their second win against St Vincent and the Grenadines. The defending champions made 168 all out and then reduced the home side to 115-7 in the 43rd over. Captain and off-spinner Anisa Mohammed has so far taken five wickets to me the main wicket-taker.
At Victoria Park, Jamaica made 194 in a match reduced to 37 overs after rain delays, with the topscore of 84 coming from captain Stafanie Taylor. St Lucia were then restricted to 36-6 in the 18th over.
