Super Shiv awarded county cap by Lancashire
West Indies batting stalwart Shivnarine Chanderpaul was recently awarded his county cap by Lancashire County Cricket Club. The 36-year-old left-hander was presented with the cap during the County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford earlier this week.
Chanderpaul arrived at Lancashire in July and made an immediate impression on his debut by hitting 92 runs in the drawn match against his former county Durham. In the13 innings he has played for the county he has averaged 58.16 with the bat, amassing 698 runs, which include two centuries and five half-centuries. During the season he reached 19 000 runs in his outstanding first-class career.
Lancashire's Cricket Director Mike Watkinson said: “Shiv has had a huge impact on the club since his arrival and has illustrated his undoubted world class qualities as an international cricketer. His experience has had a positive effect on his team mates and we are delighted to recognise his achievements in this way.”
