Daley equals ODI best as Windies win by 165 runs
Potchefstroom, South Africa -- Left-arm spinner Shanel Daley equaled her career-best figures of 4-29 against Ireland on Thursday as the West Indies women beat Ireland women by 165 runs in their ICC Women's Challenge One-Day Imatch at North-West University Ground 2 on Thursday. Daley had identical figures against Pakistan in Sydney two years ago at the ICC World Cup.
It was the West Indies second big win following their victory by 148 runs against the Netherlands in the opening match on Wednesday. Daley led the way in the bowling as she caused great problems for the Irish as they were bundled out for 110 in reply to West Indies imposing 275-6. The two off-spinners Anisa Mohammed (3-13) and Stafanie Taylor (2-15) also chipped in to destroy the opponents.
Earlier in the day, Taylor topscored with 72, to follow up her century in the first match. In the process she became the youngest woman in history to reach 1000 runs in One-Day Internationals. Deandra Dottin also hit 72 – off a mere 59 balls, skipper was promoted up the order and responded with Merissa Aguilleira 44, while opener Juliana Nero made 29.
