Jamaica and Trinidad share points at Sabina
Kingston, Jamaica – Heavy rain in mid-afternoon forced the abandonment of the all-important clash between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago at Sabina Park on Saturday. The two pre-tournament favourites were locked in a keen Group A battle when the heavens opened leaving the two sides with two points each.
This took Trinidad and Tobago to six points from two matches – following their win over CCC; while Jamaica are on two points from two matches – following their defeat against the Windward Islands.
In the time allowed Trinidad and Tobago made 225 all out off 49.5 overs. Jamaica were 45-2 off 10.4 overs in reply when the first rain stoppage came at 2.50 pm. The rain did come to a halt and Jamaica were set a revised target of 142 off 23 overs under the Duckworth/Lewis Method.
Then at 4.25 pm when played was about to re-start another heavy shower came and washed away any thoughts of more entertainment for the vocal and colourful crowd of close to 3000.
