Windies lead by 202 on first innings; ask Sri Lanka to follow-on

Galle, Sri Lanka – The West Indies have enforced the follow-on against Sri Lanka on the fourth day of the 1st ERI Test match at the Galle International Stadium. The home side, responding to West Indies first innings of 580-9 declared, were bowled out for 378 – 202 behind and Windies skipper Darren Sammy asked them to bat again.

The best bowler for the West Indies was off-spinner Shane Shillingford, who consistently troubled the batsmen on a good batting surface. The tall 27-year-old in just his fourth Test ended with career-best 4-123, bettering his 3-96 against South Africa earlier this year.

Fast bowler Kemar Roach was also impressive with 3-78. The West Indies are now in the driver’s seat and will look to go after victory in the 4 1/2 sessions left in the match.
