Powell misses ton as West Indies A take command
Arnos Vale, St Vincent - Nevisian opener Kieran Powell cruelly missed out on a century as West Indies A took command of their Digicel ‘Test’ against Pakistan A at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex as they progressed to 244 for 4 off 75 overs by the end of day two.
Responding to Pakistan A’s 261 all out West Indies were led by a fine 98 from Powell who fell two runs short of what would have been his first century for West Indies A.
The other three batsmen out are Kraigg Brathwaite (21), Kirk Edwards (8) and Assad Fudadin (37) while Jonathan Carter is at the crease on 45 and wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin is in his company on 16.
Powell faced 173 balls and struck five fours and three sixes in his innings which lasted just under four hours.
Resuming on 239 for 7 Pakistan A added another 22 runs before taking the field. West Indies are now just 18 runs behind with six wickets in hand.
Khurram Manzoor top scored for the visitors with 104 which he made on day one while Umair Khan made 41. Left arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul led the Windies bowling with 3 for 68 while there were two wickets each for Shannon Gabriel, Odean Brown and Brandon Bess.
Zulfiqar Babar picked up two wickets for Pakistan A while there was one for Yasir Shah.
