McGarrell in line for USA call-up

New York – Former Guyana and West Indies allrounder Neil McGarrell looks set to make a return to the international stage as he has been identified as a strong candidate to play for the United States of America in the International Cricket Council’s World Cricket League Division 3 in Hong Kong.

The former Guyana captain and West Indies left-arm spinner is excited about the prospect to play in the tournament slated for early in the new year.

The 38-year-old McGarrell was outstanding in his first year playing in United States Cricket Association tournaments. He captained the Atlantic Region to a second-place finish at the recently concluded USACA Senior Nationals, which was won by the North West Region.

He took six wickets for 44 runs in three matches. McGarrell was also named the best bowler in the USACA Eastern Conference tournament played in Atlanta in September, after taking 7 for 60 in three matches.
