CCC win second CT20 warm-up
Cave Hill, Barbados – Combined Campuses and Colleges defeated Barbados by six wickets to win the second Caribbean T20 warm-up match on Wednesday night.
The students limited the Bajans to 100-9 off 20 overs and then replied with 105-4 to win with 19 balls to spare. Off-spinner Ryan Austin took 4-16 off four overs and leg-spinner Nikolai Charles had 2-19 off four overs as the batsmen struggled at the 3Ws Oval.
Perkins, who represented Trinidad and Tobago at the regional level, struck four fours and two sixes in his 46 off 40 balls to seal the comfortable win. Seamer Dwayne Smith picked up 2-20 and fast bowler Javon Searles had 2-21.
Earlier in the night, Kevin Stoute topscored for Barbados with 24 off 28 balls after Rashidi Boucher (18) and new opener Dwayne Smith (16) put on 38 in 7.4 overs for the first wicket. Only three fours and one six were struck in the innings as CCC put emphasis on spin.
Barbados won the first match by six wickets at the same venue on Tuesday afternoon. The two teams used the matches as preparation for the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 which will be played in Antigua and Barbados from January 10 to 23.
