Mark Harper new Guyana coach, Fudadin captain
Georgetown, Guyana – Mark Harper, elder brother of former West Indies Coach Roger Harper, has been appointed the new Guyana Head Coach.
Harper takes over from Ravindranauth Seeram whose position was under severe scrutiny after a string of poor performances by the Guyanese national team in the limited overs format of the game. Most recently Guyana, then defending champions, crashed out of the Caribbean Twenty20 before the semi-finals stage.
Harper’s first assignment will be the West Indies Cricket Board Regional 4 Day Tournament which bowls off on February 4th with Guyana travelling to Jamaica for a tough clash with the reigning champions.
Harper is a former Guyana batsman and Turks and Caicos Head Coach.
Assad Fudadin, the stodgy left handed batsman has been elevated to the captaincy in the absence of Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul who are on West Indies duties and Narsingh Deonarine who is injured.

Left handed middle order batsman Vishaul Singh, who appeared for Guyana in 2010 and fast bowler Ronsford Beaton are also in the squad. Brandon Bess who had a shock one Test for West Indies in 2010 is also in the squad which will have spin twins Devendra Bishoo and Veerasammy Permaul along with stalwart seamer Esuan Crandon.
Veteran opener Sewnarine Chattergoon, who has been struggling in the shorter version of the game, also returns to the format which many believe he is most suited.
