Lambert retained as Jamaica captain

Kingston, Jamaica – The Jamaica Cricket Association has retained Tamar Lambert as captain of the Jamaica 4 day side.

Lambert was not part of the Jamaica Twenty20 team which placed third in the recently concluded Caribbean Twenty20. Wavell Hinds captained the team on that assignment, taking over from Lambert who had captained the side in their 4th place finish in Caribbean Twenty20 2010.

Lambert, the burly middle order batsman, led the Jamaican side in the last First Class season as they successfully defended the title for a second time.

The 29 year old Lambert has made 55 First Class appearances to date.

The full Jamaica squad, to be coached by former West Indies batsman and coach Gus Logie, will be announced next week. Jamaica face Guyana in their opening match, starting on Friday. The defending champs will be missing key opening batsman Chris Gayle, spinner Nikita Miller, wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh and all rounder Andre Russell who are on West Indies duties in Asia.
