Windies post 281 batting first

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Left-handers Chris Gayle and Darren Bravo made half-centuries as West Indies reached 281-9 off their 50 overs against Sri Lanka in their ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up match on Tuesday.

Gayle made a spectacular 58 off 38 balls with eight fours and massive six into the top tier of the grand stand, while Bravo made 54 off 78 balls with five boundaries. Gayle dominated an 85-run second wicket stand with the 22-year-old Bravo before he was bowled by Muttiah Muralitharan in the 12th over. Bravo shared another good third-wicket stand of 74 with Ramnaresh Sarwan, who made a polished 39 from 46 balls.

At the bottom of the innings wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh made a quick 29, but he was forced to retire hurt with a hamstring niggle. Skipper Darren Sammy made a run-a-ball 21 while Andre Russell was 19 not out off 14 ball, including a huge straight six off Dilhara Fernando. The last five overs brought 42 runs.

Left-arm spinner Rangana Herath was the best bowler for the Sri Lankans with 3-39 off 10 overs.
