TT drop Kanhai; Carriah in

Port of Spain, Trinidad - Trinidad and Tobago have made one change to their 13 man squad that will host the England Lions at the Queen’s Park Oval from Friday. Left-handed middle-order batsman, Aneil Kanhai has been dropped from the squad following failure to produce substantial scores, gathering 21 runs in three innings. Against Barbados, he was bowled for six, then against the Combined Campuses and Colleges in Round Two, Kanhai scored just 15 and five respectively. Of the 42 overs he bowled in rounds one and two, he had a solitary wicket. His replacement is exciting, young, uncapped West Indies Under-19 left-hander, Yannic Cariah. Carriah represented the West Indies last year at the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, and like Kanhai can add to the team’s bowling through his leg spin. Having won first inning points against Barbados in the first round of the competition, then scampering to victory against the CCC a week later in Round Two, T&T are level on 18 points with the England Lions and Jamaica, with both sides picking up first innings wins and outright victories over the two rounds. T&T squad: Daren Ganga (captain), Lendl Simmons, Justin Guillen, Runako Morton, Yannic Cariah, Denesh Ramdin (vice captain/wicketkeeper), Imran Khan, Rayad Emrit, Dave Mohammed, Amit Jaggernauth, Shannon Gabriel, Sherwin Ganga, Atiba Allert. -By Ryan Bachoo
