LUNCH: Jamaica 49-1 against T&T
St Augustine, Trinidad – Jamaica held the upper hand over Trinidad and Tobago after the first session in the WICB First-class semi-final match at UWI SPEC on Friday. Having been sent in to bat, the tourists lost Simon Jackson for one with just three runs on the board but reached 49-1 at the break.
Opener Danza Hyatt and the inform Marlon Samuels ensured Jamaica would lose no further wickets before lunch as they cautiously went through the session. There was a short interruption with just four overs bowled as the heavens opened up. After play resumed, the Hyatt show started as he played shots to all parts of the ground taking boundaries.
He was given a life on 36 as another of his flashing drives went airborne to Kieron Pollard at mid-off. Pollard managed to get to the dipping ball but could not hold on to the ball.
Both batsmen reached lunch with no further alarms as Hyatt is not out on 37 and Samuels nine not out. Ravi Rampaul, who Hyatt dominated throughout the morning, has figures of 6-1-22-1. Meanwhile his partner Shannon Gabriel at lunch had figures of 6-1-22-0. Rayad Emrit and Amit Jaggernauth bowled one over each before lunch.
