LUNCH: CCC spinners on top
Cave Hill, Barbados – Spinners Ryan Austin and Kavesh Kantasingh have snapped up five wickets as Combined Campuses & Colleges have the Windward Islands under severe pressure in their WICB First-class semi-final on Saturday.
At lunch on the second day at the 3Ws Oval, the Windwards found themselves in deep trouble at 69-5, replying to CCC’s 256. Austin, the experienced off-spinner, has so far taken 2-18 from eight overs, while Kantasingh, the attacking left-arm spinner has 3-24 from 12 overs.
Kantasingh’s third wicket was his 100th in first-class cricket. It came when he had Andre Fletcher (31) snapped up at silly point by Shacoya Thomas. Kantasingh’s other wickets were left-handers Devon Smith (LBW) and Liam Sebastien (bowled).
Austin, who started the match with 32 wickets this season, had a dream start when he bamboozled Johnson Charles and he popped up an easy catch. Austin got his second scalp with his eight ball when Keddy Lesporis was well held by Omar Phillips at short leg.
Earlier in the day, CCC were bowled out for 256 adding just three to their overnight total. Liam Sebastien picked up his fifth wicket when he had Austin caught on the long-on boundary by Lesporis.
