TEA: Jamaica have CCC 80-5
Cave Hill, Barbados – Three-time defending champions Jamaica are in full control over Caribbean Colleges & Campuses at tea on the second day of the WICB First-class final on Saturday.
Jamaica’s spinners Odean Brown (3-23) and Nikita Miller (2-24) have cruelly exposed CCC’s weaknesses against quality slow bowling. At the break the home side were tottering on 80-5 off 34 overs – still some distance away from overhauling the first innings deficit of 113.
CCC started their second innings after lunch when Jamaica were dismissed for 225. They had an opening stand of 56 between skipper Omar Phillips (34) and Romel Currency (23).
After that the innings went into rapid decline as five wickets fell for 34 runs in 24 overs. At one stage the Jamaica bowlers sent down eight consecutive overs without a run being scored as the home side batsmen cracked under the pressure.
The winners of the match will take home the Headley/Weekes trophy in honour of West Indies legends George Headley and Sir Everton Weekes.
