Simmons hits 65, WI make 150-7
Gros Islet, St Lucia – Opening batsman Lendl Simmons marked his return to international cricket with a brilliant 65 off just 44 balls to pilot the West Indies to 150-7 off 20 overs in the Digicel T20 International at Beausejour Cricket Ground on Thursday afternoon.
The right-hander, who last played for the Windies in February 2010, smashed seven boundaries and two mighty sixes as he went after the Pakistan bowlers from the get-go. He added 99 in 11 overs with left-hander Darren Bravo, who made 42 from 33 balls before he was well caught trying to clear the long-on fence.
Left-arm seamer Wahad Riaz was the best bowler with 2-24 from his four overs. The West Indies included five T20 International debutants in the match as part of the initiative to introduce new players to the world stage.
This is the first T20 International between the two nations.
