Radford returns to UK

Cave Hill, Barbados – Sagicor High Performance Centre Director Toby Radford has returned to the United Kingdom for personal reasons.

Radford who took up the position from the inception of the Sagicor HPC in 2010 is returning to the United Kingdom to pursue a career as a specialist batting coach.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the High Performance players and other West Indies senior teams,” Radford said.

"There is a wealth of cricketing talent emerging across the Caribbean and the future for West Indies cricket looks extremely encouraging,” he added.

"It has been a privilege to set up the High Performance Centre for the WICB - facilities, staffing and coaching programme - and to see the players performing so well, so quickly on the back of all their hard-work and dedication. I am very grateful to the WICB for having given me this opportunity.

"I will miss the HPC players and staff as I return to the UK to embark on a career as a specialist batting coach, but hope that opportunities may arise in the not too distant future to work again with more young and senior West Indian batsmen."

WICB CEO Dr. Ernest Hilaire said Radford’s tenure was most beneficial.

“The WICB was pleased to have Toby serve as HPC Director. He worked assiduously in setting up the operations of the HPC and contributed significantly to the development of several of the players and we have seen the results of these in the performances of these players in regional tournaments,” Dr. Hilaire said.

“We thank Toby for his services and wish him well as he returns to the UK to pursue his passion and specialization in the coaching field with an emphasis in the batting department,” Dr. Hilaire added.

The Sagicor HPC will commence its second semester on May 1st and run for three months after the successful completion of the first semester in 2010.

Andre Coley will serve as HPC Head Coach for the semester.

The Sagicor HPC team toured Canada following the first semester and will go on another international tour upon completion of the second semester.
