'Reds' wants Bishoo to live his dreams

Gros Islet, St Lucia– World renowned cricket commentator Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreira presented impressive rookie West Indies leg spinner Devendra Bishoo with a copy of his book – Living my Dreams.

Perreira made the presentation to Bishoo at the end of the Second Digicel One Day International at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds.

“I read where Bishoo said he dreams of being a great player and since I too dreamt big dreams when I was young I wanted him to have the book so that he can read it and know that dreams, no matter how big they are can be lived,” Perreira said.

“I want him to see that dreams do not have to be wasted or unfulfilled but one must work diligently and purposefully and if he does he can see further glory and success in his life as a cricketer and a person,” Perreira added.

After winning the Man-of-the-Match award in the Digicel Twenty20, Bishoo had said that he dreams of being a great West Indian spinner and was not merely content with being an ordinary journey-man spinner.

“He impresses me as a very disciplined young man who is keen to play at the highest level,” Perreira said.

“Two years ago the Reds Perreira Foundation arranged a clinic for spin bowlers and on the day of the clinic Bishoo was bowling in the nets against the West Indies and as soon he was done he rushed down to the clinic,” Perreira explained.

“He was enthusiastic and keen and impressed me then that he was a man on a mission, someone who was keen to learn at all times and who had a strong desire to do well,” the retired commentator added.

Perreira, a Guyanese, lives in St Lucia.
