Windwards T20 bowls off in Dominica

Roseau, Dominica, CMC – The Windward Islands Cricket Board announced Tuesday that EC$25 000 (US$9 260) in prizes will be at stake when the Windward Islands Twenty20 Championship which bowls off in Dominica on Thursday night under lights.

 

The tournament, which runs until May 29, will be played at the upgraded Windsor Park with two matches daily. Four teams – defending champions Dominica, St Lucia, Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines – will contest the tournament on a round robin basis in the preliminary stages.

 

The winners will walk away with EC$10 000, a trophy and gold medals, with cash prizes and trophies being presented for outstanding performances during the tournament.

 

Former Windward Islands captain Rawl Lewis, who retired from first class cricket last year and is now an employee of the West Indies Cricket Board, will be honoured for his contribution to Windward Islands cricket during the presentation ceremony on the final day of the competition.

 

During the tournament, the Windwards board will hold its general meeting to discuss matters concerning the development of cricket in the sub-region and will meet with West Indies Cricket Board Chief Executive Officer Ernest Hilaire.
