Windies and Sagicor HPC get great work-out

Couva, Trinidad, CMC – West Indies got a good work out against the Sagicor High Performance Centre, winning a Twenty20 warm-up match by 11 runs on Thursday at the Sir Frank Worrell National Cricket Centre.

Batting first, West Indies were dismissed for 145 in their 20 overs, and the HPC responded with 134-6 from their 20 overs.

Shane Dowrich, the right-handed wicket-keeper/batsman struck five fours and a six, leading the way for the HPC with an exciting, unbeaten 52 from 41 balls.

Left-arm seamer Krishmar Santokie and right-arm medium-pacer Chris Barnwell were the pick of the West Indies’ attack, with two wickets apiece.

Earlier, Lendl Simmons struck five fours and two sixes in the top score of 43 from 25 balls for West Indies. Left-arm spinner Verasammy Permaul, medium-fast bowler Jason Holder, and leg-spinner Nkrumah Bonner to pull back the Windies batting in the second half of the innings.

West Indies will face India on Saturday in the one-off Digicel Pearls T20 International at Queen’s Park Oval. Later that same day Sagicor HPC will meet Trinidad and Tobago at he same venue.
