WIndies players on winning end in England

London, England, CMC – All-rounder Kieron Pollard was one of three West Indian players emerging on the winning side in the latest round of matches in the Friends Life Twenty20 Championship.


At Taunton, Glamorgan rattled up 166 for eight after winning the toss and batting, with Pollard taking two for 35 from his four overs of medium pace.


Somerset replied with 172 for three with four overs to spare with opener and captain Marcus Trescothick top scoring with 58. Pollard did not bat.


At Chester-le-Street, Durham reached 187 for five with Gordon Muchall hitting a top score of 64 and former Jamaica and West Indies all-rounder Gareth Breese getting 15 not out from 11 balls at the end of the innings.


In reply, Mitchell Claydon claimed three for 38 while Breese was wicket-less form one over that cost 10 runs as Leicestershire fell short at 184 for eight.


At Leek, Derbyshire successfully chased down Warwickshire’s 137, finishing on 141 for four with seven balls to spare. Leeward Islands left-hander Chesney Hughes failed with six but New Zealander Martin Guptill shone with 72 off 44 balls.
