Bajan bowler gets Under-15 top award

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, CMC – Barbadian Chad Williams was voted one of six Most Valuable Players and also picked up the award for the Most Outstanding Bowler, following the West Indies Cricket Board’s Under-15 Championship which finished Friday.

The left-arm spinner was rewarded for his outstanding bowling which saw him take a tournament-high 23 scalps. He snared an amazing eight for 18 in the first innings against champions Jamaica in the fifth and final round this week, and returned in the second innings to claim four for 22.  Despite his match figures of 12 for 40, Barbados went down by four wickets.

Trinidadian batsman Jeremy Solozano also landed the MVP award for his side after emerging as the tournament's leading scorer with 297 runs. He hit a superb, unbeaten 135 against Windward Islands to record the tournament’s highest individual score.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul, the son of West Indies batting star Shiv Chanderpaul, was among the MVPs after picking half-centuries in both innings against the Windwards.
