West Indians will like Akmal's batting - Alam

Gros Islet, St LuciaPakistan Team Manager Intikhab Alam believes that Umar Akmal, the dashing right handed middle order batsman can become a darling of the West Indian public.

“The people of the Caribbean will like the way he plays because he’s so entertaining and exciting and hits the ball exceptionally well,” said Alam of the 20 year old who has already featured in 21 International Twenty20s and 37 One Day Internationals.

Digicel Grassroots Cricket launched

St John’s, Antigua – The Digicel Grassroots Cricket Programme is being launched all across the Caribbean. Launches were held in Antigua, St Lucia and Nevis on Thursday and Friday.

In Antigua the launch was at the world famous Antigua Recreation Ground while in St Lucia the launch was at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds and in Nevis at the Elquemedo Willett Park.

Hildreth hundred turns tides for Lions

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – James Hildreth led an England Lions recovery with his second hundred of the season against Windward Islands in the WICB Regional first-class championship on Thursday.

The Lions captain scored an even 100 to give his side’s first innings total of 280 for eight at the close on the opening day of the sixth round match at Windsor Park.
