JA take 1st inns over feeble WIslds

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – Their bowlers, led by Jerome Taylor, helped three-time defending champions Jamaica to capture first innings points from Windward Islands, and take control of their match in the WICB Regional first-class championship on Sunday.

No play in Guyana or Grenada

Georgetown, Guyana - For a second day running no play was possible at the Bourda Cricket Ground in Guyana where the home side is slated to do battle with Leeward Islands. The historic Bourda field was under water due to continued heavy rains in Guyana. There was no play on Day One as the toss was not even spun. At soonest play is expect to begin late Sunday afternoon if the showers stay away.

Slow going by Jamaica vs Windwards

St George’s Grenada, CMC – Jamaica’s batsmen found the going tough on the opening day of their second round WICB Regional Four-day match against Windward Islands on Friday.

Sent in to bat, the Jamaicans reached 177-6 off 90 overs in at Queen’s Park Stadium. Marlon Samuels led the way for the visitors with a solid 40, skipper Tamar Lambert, supported with 35, Dave Bernard was not out on 28, and opener Simon Jackson made 28.
