Campbell praises “amazing” Stafanie

Basseterre, St Kitts – Head Coach of the West Indies Women’s Team Sherwin Campbell has described allrounder Stafanie Taylor as “an amazing player” following another match-winning batting performance on Friday.

Taylor does it again for Windies

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – A measured half-century from Stafanie Taylor helped West Indies Women to level their three-match One-Day International series against India, with an easy 42-run win on Friday.

Opting to bat first at Warner Park, West Indies rattled up 204 for six off their 50 overs with Taylor stroking 75 from 131 balls with eight fours. Left-arm spinner Ekta Bist led India’s attack with three for 33.

India girls take first ODI by 76 runs

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – Mithali Raj and Amita Sharma stroked half-centuries to steer India to a comfortable 76-run victory over West Indies in their opening One-Day International of the three-match series on Wednesday.

Sent in, India reached 179 for seven off their allotted 50 overs with Raj getting the top score of 57 and Sharma contributing an unbeaten 51. Raj faced 119 balls and hit four fours while Sharma faced 72 balls and counted two fours. Off-spinner Anisa Mohammed finished with three for 41.

Mohammed, Taylor aim to top the world

Basseterre, St Kitts -- West Indies players Stafanie Taylor and Anisa Mohammed are both targeting moves up the International Cricket Council’s Women’s One-Day International Player Rankings when they face India Women in a three-match series.

Taylor, the prolific right-handed opening batter, starts the series at Number 2 behind India’s Mithali Raj. Mohammed, the accurate off-spinner, is at Number 5 and is also looking to move up the ladder.

Stafanie eyeing Number 1 batter spot

Bassesterre, St Kitts – West Indies allrounder, Stafanie Taylor has the opportunity to usurp India’s Mithali Raj in the Reliance ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings for batters should the 20-year-old all-rounder perform well with the bat in the upcoming ODI series against India which begins on Wednesday at Warner Park.

Taylor, the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year 2011, is just 11 ratings points behind table-topper Mithali, who has held the Number 1 position since February 21 2010 after scoring 91 not out against England in Bengaluru.
