Campbell applauds Smartt’s contribution

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – West Indies Women’s coach Sherwin Campbell has showered praise on allrounder Tremayne Smartt, who had a good match against New Zealand in the opening contest of the Women’s T20 International Series.

Smartt, a tall seam bowler, had the impressive figures of 4-0-12-1 with the new ball and was involved in two run outs of New Zealand batters. Her accurate spell helped to peg back the visitors as they were bowled out for 81, chasing 104 for victory.

Windies girls ready for England clash

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – West Indies and England will come face-to-face in a mouth-watering clash as the Women’s T20 International Tri Series continues at Kensington Oval on Friday night.

These are two of the leading teams in the world and both are locked at the top of the points table on four points – West Indies beat New Zealand on Monday night, while England beat New Zealand on Wednesday night.

West Indies captain Merissa Aguilleira will be playing her 50th T20 International for the regional side and is eagerly looking ahead to this “special” occasion.

Beaumont delighted to meet Big Bird

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Tammi Beaumont was dwarfed by former West Indies fast bowler Joel Garner at the post-match presentation, but it was another senior figure she looked up to during her game-winning cameo.

Having hit 29 not out from 23 balls to see England to a five wicket win over New Zealand in the Women’s Twenty20 Tri-Series, Beaumont cited the example set by captain Charlotte Edwards.
