Windward Islands spinners rip through Jamaica Under 19s

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Spin bowlers Keron Cottoy and Dalton Polius combined for eight wickets to wreck Jamaica’s batting on a rain-affected opening day of their third-round TCL Group West Indies Under-19 match on Monday.

 Jamaica dramatically lost their last six wickets for the addition of just 11 runs and were bowled out for 174 as leg-spinner Cottoy picked up five wickets and off-spinner Polius snared three wickets.

Guyana beat Windward Islands: TCL Group West Indies Under 19 Challenge

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Windward Islands captain Kerron Cottoy befuddled the Guyana batsmen with career best bowling, but his effort failed to prevent Guyana from registering a come-from-behind 47-run victory in the second round of the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 championship on Friday.

Cottoy collected eight wickets for 89 runs from 41 overs, as Guyana were dismissed for 217, but the Windward Islands, set 147 to win in a minimum of 54 overs, crashed to 99 all out on the third and final day of their match at Combermere School.

Barbados draw against Trinidad & Tobago (TCL Group West Indies Under 19 Challenge)

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Barbados hunting their first TCL Group West Indies Under-19 title in five years, squandered a golden opportunity to register their second consecutive victory, when Trinidad & Tobago held them to a draw on Friday.

The hosts dismissed Trinidad & Tobago for 250 in their second innings, but set 165 runs to win in a minimum of 34 overs, they never took up the challenge and reached 90 for two before the match was called off with two overs remaining.

Round Two: Guyana v. Windward Islands (TCL Group West Indies Under 19 Challenge)

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Kerron Cottoy again tormented Guyana, as Windward Islands held firm in their TCL Group West Indies Under-19 match on Thursday.

Cottoy, the Windward Islands captain, snared four wickets for 47 runs from 27 overs, as Guyana, trailing by 71 runs from the first innings, reached 153 for six in their second innings when stumps were drawn on the second day of second round match on Wednesday at Combermere School.
